Chapter 20. Dropping Bombshells on Her

Alexis got up from Drake’s lap in a state of daze. The kind of things he told her created a new hope in her heart. Did he still love her? Then what about that girlfriend of his?

“Then? What are we?” she asked with apprehension. “Family?” She didn’t know where they stood. If they weren’t friends, then what were they exactly? She had to know if she wanted to stay with him under one roof. Drake’s eyes glittered at the question. Of course, he knew what they were! They were each other’s for life. But if he told that to Alexis, she would jump and run out of his life in a state of panic. He had to take things slowly. 

“We are much more than just family, Alexie. You are very close to my heart,” started Drake, but his phone buzzed with an incoming call from Nate. Drake groaned, knowing that the fight would start again. He might have found out that Alexis had moved in with him. But how? Did Alexis inform him?

“What’s wrong?” asked Alexis. Drake showed her the screen fla
