At the mention of this, Orla didn’t hesitate to respond: "Jonathan, as long as you agree to persuade Mr. Thomas the Second to drop the fifty million USD compensation claim for selling Carla, and sign the divorce papers, I promise to attend Carla’s birthday party tomorrow.”
Jonathan laughed heartily, shaking his head: "Orla, you’re using your daughter’s birthday as a bargaining chip? Have you no shame?”
Orla firmly retorted: "That’s my limit. Don’t forget that tomorrow is the day Edward and I announce our engagement at the Way Heaven hotel. If you’re a man, let me go and find happiness!”
Jonathan was utterly disillusioned. He had hoped that during the three-day truce, Orla would feel some remorse, but he had thought too highly of her.
