Chapter 22
It was too late for me to take Killian's offer to join him in the council’s meeting, so instead I was stuck with Aurora. One hour with her, and I was almost having a mental breakdown from all the information being pressed into the side of my brain.
She hadn’t stopped talking yet. She had gone on, and on about floral patterns, modern and farm aesthetics, and a bunch of other random things I hadn’t been paying attention to.
“You’re not listening,” she whined pitifully. In her defense, I truly wasn’t—I was stuck in my own little world of make-believe.
“Sorry, I just don’t get all of this. It’s confusing.” It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either. Aurora wasn’t the best at explaining things. I did understand where she was going with her grand schemes, but the added details made my head hurt just trying to understand what she truly meant.
