Chapter 30
I don’t want to go. This is a bad idea. I paced in my bedroom. The gathering was in less than three hours and set to last until sunrise. At first, I had been living in a world of fiction in my mind. I had pushed the nervousness and worry to the back of my thoughts with the help of a book and company. Now every suppressed feeling was rushing through me, hitting me like a lightning bolt, and I shuddered at the thought of being paraded around to the who’s who of Shifter society.
I don’t know anything about politics. I didn’t even know the names of the council members. I was not schooled in the fine art of female shifter manners. I was a savage to them, and they might laugh and scorn me.
A knock rang through the door, and then it opened, revealing Aurora. She was wearing the light blue dress that Nana Hellen had initially picked out for me, but had changed her mind about, courtesy of Henry.
