Chapter 37
I hated the sun. At this moment, when the sun was shining brightly outside, I hated it. When Killian left me behind, bleeding, without a word, I ran. I ran up the stairs, opened the door, and lay in our bed. Nana Helen tried to get me to come out, but I couldn’t do it. I felt numb; my limbs refused to move. I was still stuck in time.
He didn’t come back. Even when the sun set and the moon came out, Killian didn’t come back. I waited and waited in our bed, hoping that he’d show up and hug me, tell me he was sorry and that he loved me. Then we’d spend the whole night talking, just him and me.
