Chapter 57
The moon is bright tonight. The loud brushing of trees and the thudding of hooves on the ground can be heard from afar. I rocked back and forth on my chair, enjoying the cold winter’s night. Sometimes I craved the cold. There’s just something about falling snowflakes that sets my soul at peace. I was finally whole again. After years in this place, somehow everything fell into place. My wolf and I were one again. I had learned to talk again. I’d grown stronger and calmer. The world was mine again.
Will was inside, opting to take a nap near the fire on the bear rug. I was still awake, my heart restless. The woods were buzzing; the creatures always came out at nighttime. The centaurs were out today. It was rare that they even came close to this place. They often slept deep within the woods. I’d only ever seen one, and it had tried to kill me.
