By the seventeenth year, my father, King Griel, had opened the Elven Kingdom to the rest of the creatures forced to retreat. Amoria had descended into chaos. I stared down at the small village a few miles away from us. Father had instructed me to lead a troop toward the village of Demilius to investigate vampire activity. He had been right—the place was swarming with them. I was next in line, his trusted soldier. Will had prepared me perfectly for this. My power had grown in the fir
