Chapter 20

Today is one of those days that make your life do a 180º turn, and nothing will ever be the same again. At least, that’s what my boss told me in a message before I could drink a measly cup of coffee.

That woman does not sleep.

Sofia is spending the weekend at her friend’s house. I just spoke with her mother, a lovely woman, who speaks of my daughter with affection. Those things are noticeable. She will pick her up from school and then they would go home.

Mireya told me that we would be outside, but she didn’t say what for. It’s nothing new, but it makes me more uncomfortable than other times. My daughter’s life comes first, and I have to be able to organize it. Anyway, it’s not like she cares.

I return, at home, to Mireya. I repeat over and over again the phrase of her last message this morning;
