Chapter 6
Silence.
Neither of us said anything.
Mireya took the package and put it back. Without further ado, we went to the car, and on the way home, I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened. I was one step closer to having my baby with me.
When we finally arrived in the neighborhood, she parked in front of my house and looked at me silently for a few seconds. She sighed and held the package out to me again, along with a folded piece of paper.
“That’s the address,” she said very seriously, and underneath, the time of delivery. “Don’t be late, Oscar.”
I nodded and got out of the car.
As soon as the door had closed, she started the vehicle and parked it in front of her house while I entered mine.
It was dawn. I didn’t know if it was because of the certainty that I was closer to my goal or because of extreme tiredness, but I had slept. Today was my day off. Since I woke up this morning, I had been mentally preparing myself to carry that package
