Chapter 37. Confidence
Elara POV
Zeke is driving, and Zeus is in the front seat. They are both giving me the silent treatment because I won’t give them the full directions to the temple. Zane, on the other hand, is trying to cheer me up in the back seat.
“A mushroom walks into a bar, and the bartender says, ‘We can’t serve you.’ And the mushroom says, ‘Come on. I’m a fungi.’” Zane cackles at his terrible joke.
I roll my eyes and turn my head in the other direction, but Zane pokes me in the stomach with his elbow.
“Do you get it?” He continues. ‘‘Fungi sounds like fun guy.”
“Oh, I got it,” I groan.
“Do you want to hear another one?” He asks.
“Goddess, no,” I reply. “Please, no more.”
“Do you want to play a car game?” He scoots closer to me.
“No,” I respond shortly.
“You can’t be mad at me because they are being assholes,” he complains.
“I’m not mad,” I snap at him. “I’m irritated.”
