Chapter 79. Poisoned

Zeke POV

We pull up to the Opal Pack, and for the first time, I feel nervous. Elara is sitting in the back seat, chewing on her fingernails. She doesn’t think she is strong enough to face Ares without the final mark on her neck.

I know I will mark her eventually; I don’t know what is holding me back. I guess I thought when I did, it would be an intimate moment between the two of us, not some hasty marking in the back of my car.

No one stops me from entering the Opal Pack, but everyone is lining the streets. There is going to be a battle, and no one wants to miss it.

I step out of the car first and stand in front of the Opal pack house. Not waiting for my brothers to join me, I growl as loudly as I can.

“Ares Davis,” I snarl. “Come and face me like a man.”

Elara tugs on my arm. “This is my fight. Not yours.”
