Chapter 85. The Healer

Cinder POV

My wolf has been restless in my mind since we came to the Obsidian Pack for the first time. Now that we have taken up residence in the pack house, she is downright obnoxious. If I don’t hunt down our mate soon, she might cut off my magic. Luckily for her, I know exactly where to find him.

His citrus scent swarms around the outside of his house. I came here the first night, and every night after. Usually, I hide in the shadows, watching him like a complete creeper. Many nights, I have made it to the front porch before turning around and leaving. I am a coward.

Before I have a chance to run again, the door swings open, and there he is. His marbled eyes are narrowed, and his arms are crossed over his chest. It takes every inch of self-control not to peek into his mind, but I think the scowl on his face is telling me all that I need to know.

“Sorry,” I mutter. “I will go.”

“Are you reading my mind?” He grunts.

“What?” I gasp. “No.”
