The Unsettled Phone Call

They had just landed in Alaska and waited for Alice’s father to pick them up. 

They claimed their luggage and headed out front just when his car pulled over. Alice smiled before he even stepped out of the car. 

She walked ahead of Chris toward the car as he opened the door. She halted immediately when he came out. Her heart completely dropped to the hard floor as the air in her throat clogged.
