Mason’s POV

Amelia hadn’t come back downstairs since she vanished into her room earlier, and I was starting to think that she was having second thoughts on the whole wedding thing.

Perhaps she had changed her mind, and she no longer wanted to get married.

I saw her expression earlier as the people gossiped about her sudden wedding and the whereabouts of her parents.

I would understand if she didn’t want to marry me because if I was in her position, I wouldn’t want to marry myself either.

But I wondered what she was going to do about the rule.

It sounded stupid in the first place; I wondered who made such a rule.

Being around strangers was not something that I was used to, and to think that they could find out that I killed their king at any time kept me on edge around them.

I was on the verge of retreating to my room when Amelia walked down the stairs, looking beautiful in her full glory.
