Zachary woke up at the middle of the night and noticed that he was by himself in bed. He had been sleeping by himself for over three months, which had become routine, yet this situation felt off. Having spent the night with Scarlett, waking up alone felt unsettling to him.
He lifted himself to sit, feeling a twinge of pain in his heart. However, before his thoughts could drift into a darker place, he noticed her by the window, gazing outside. He inhaled deeply, feeling a sense of relief that she was still there.
