The engagement party was perfect in every aspect. Even with a small assembly of friends and family, every aspect of the preparation was executed flawlessly. Scarlett anticipated nothing different from Hector. He wished to show her to everyone, but because Sheila preferred a more private occasion, he assured her he would adapt to her wishes. 

Their parents appeared to get along quite nicely, and the mothers seemed to have connected over some gossip from the fashion industry. At the beginning of the party, there was a small barrier separating their fathers, but after a few glasses of wine, they turned into friendly conversationalists. 

The engaged couple stood at the edge of the hall, wrapped in a close embrace, each holding a glass of wine. They move gently to the mellow jazz performed by the band they brought in. It was a sensation that would lead her to memories, despite her reluctance to revisit that place.
