Chapter 115. A United Pack
The awkward silence between them is hanging by a thin thread, but no one makes a move first. Lara blames herself for her sudden outburst, but she couldn’t help it when Carter said those irritating words to her.
“Fine!” Carter blurts out in frustration, “I’m sorry,” this time, his words come out like a whisper. Lara stares at him with a glint of pain evident in her eyes.
“It’s fine. I shouldn’t have talked back like that.” She rolls her eyes. Reconciling isn’t the issue, but finding the spark to continue the conversation is somewhat tough. “We won’t be able to do anything if we continue to stare at each other,” Lara finally breaks the deadly tension in the air.
Carter clears his throat. “Okay, umm, let’s get started with today’s work.” The darting of Lara’s orbs from angle to angle tells Carter that she has had enough, but the worst is yet to come.
