Chapter 122. Strengthening the Wolf
Lara inhales deeply, basking in the warmth of the sunlight. She slips into a new set of feminine clothes, ideas building up and breaking down in her head as she contemplates plausible ways to explain her absence to Chris. A strong, cool breeze surrounds her, relaxing the static tension in the room.
Her mind goes completely blank. She can't possibly explain her disappearance in the middle of the night, then staying away for hours, even till now! She checks her wristwatch. 1.00 pm.
“Oh, how perfect,” she rolls her eyes. And with a deep sigh, she sluggishly moves to the living room. Carter's eyes trail hee motion, appearing cool and calm.
“It seems the warm bath did nothing to your comfort,” he begins, as Lara's eyes flick to him, just before she flops on the couch.
