Chapter 92. Flash

Slowly, Lara drops the recorder on the table, her face turning flushed red with veins popping out on her forehead region. Her fingers are trembling uncontrollably and her pulse is racing. She has listened to the recording for the fifth time in a row, intense flashes of memory traveling through her mind at every instance.

She knows it, the voice behind the speaker. Although it has been very long she can still remember how he looked at her every time she came over to see Claire. He would even bake her some chocolate cookies which tasted horrible at every chance he got. He used to claim to be a worker at a bakery but his skills betrayed him. A very lively lot he was, yet all Claire had to say about him was negative. Especially about the time he was arrested for possession of a controlled sub**ance.

For some reason, Lara stopped seeing or hearing about him but never really asked what happened to him since she did not like him or anything. Now, what she feels is beyond words.
