Chapter 94. Mad World
“Mister Wolf, it does not matter what you tell me. I am never going to believe you.” Lara sinks into her seat, folding her arms. Her pulse breaks into a sprint. This is not the first time she has heard of Lara’s betrayal, but in truth, it does not seem to be adding up. Lara was there with her, right up to the end.
“You seem hell-bent on pitching me against my best friend…” She adds, her voice growing heavier by the moment.
“Best friend?” Wolf scoffs, “I can’t believe that up till now you are still naïve.”
Lara perks up. “If naivety means that I do not betray my friend, then so be it.”
Wolf stares at her silently for a while, then kisses his teeth, shaking his head in disbelief. “You are incredible, Lara.” He reaches for his pocket and pulls out his phone.
“If only your friend feels the same about you, the world would be a better place. Maybe you should see for yourself.” He hands his phone to Lara, who collects it.
