Dr. Winchester went away, taking Mr. Corbeck with him, with polite deliberation, and leaving me behind. When the others had gone, Mr. Trelawney said:
"I think it would be good if you too go to your house tonight I want to be all alone with my daughter and there are many things I want to talk about with her and only her, perhaps until tomorrow I will be able to tell you too but in the meantime there will be less distraction For each of us if we are alone in the house.
I fully understood his feelings and sympathized with them, but the experiences of the past days were too strong for me, and I said with some hesitation:
“But maybe it's dangerous? If you knew as well as we do.”
