Gabbie POV

“Kade, are you okay?” I asked through our link.

“I’m alright, mate,” he replied.

“Then why do you feel that way? You feel hurt and weak.”

“I’m still standing. Don’t worry about me, Princess. I’ll see you soon.”

He cut our conversation short. Kade put up a mental block between us. That was a cheat code that shouldn’t be allowed for people who share a sacred bond. I couldn’t reach him despite how far I pushed against the mental blockade.

“Damn it Kade.”

The door opened and shut behind me. The guys who brought me here dumped me on the floor and left. I was still on the carpet when General Kahn walked in. He stared at me as if I were an anomaly.

“This isn’t about the file,” I mumbled.

“Smart girl, I don’t care for the file.” He shrugged.

“What do you want?”

He chuckled. “You’re a smart girl, Gabbie,” he said, adjusting his cufflinks.

He walked to his desk and settled into the chair.
