Gabbie POV

“What are you doing here?” Kade barked.

I jumped and held his arm.

“Your Mom invited us.”

Kade stepped in front of me, blocking me from Calla.

“You’ve changed since the last time I saw you,” her eyes twinkled as she spoke.

Kade clenched his jaw and straightened his spine. His temper seemed to simmer down. “I’m sorry about your sister.”

“Half-sister,” Calla corrected. “Dad’s beaten up about it. We should talk, don’t you think?”

Did she not see me standing here?

“We have nothing to talk about. Besides, it’s late right now.”

Calla smiled. “Don’t be that way, Kade. There’s a lot to discuss, especially after Hallie’s passing. I’m my Father’s only heir. We should pick up where we left off. Your parents certainly want us to.” She turned and strolled out.
