Kelly POV

I barely had time to react before Kate stepped right into my path, her sudden presence forcing me to stop. I had just walked out of the café, Adrian beside me, the noise of the street barely settling in when she appeared out of nowhere, blocking me completely.

Her face was tight with frustration, eyes sharp and searching.

“Where is he?” she demanded.

I let out a slow breath, already drained before this even began. “Move, Kate.”

“Not until you tell me where Dad is,” she snapped, not budging an inch. “Where are you keeping him?”

I let out a short scoff, shaking my head at the accusation. “Keeping him? Like he’s some kind of hostage?”

“You know exactly what I mean,” she shot back, her voice rising. “You moved him. I went to the hospital, and they said he wasn’t there anymore.”

I crossed my arms, holding her gaze. “And that’s suddenly my problem?”

Kate’s eyes narrowed, something darker slipping into her expression.
