Book 3: Shocked by His Admission

Lyra’s POV 

I froze on the spot, unable to utter a single word. His admission had pulled the carpet from under my feet, leaving me confused. Had I misunderstood him in the last four years? His words still echoed in my head. 

Dimitra had abandoned them when they were a day old! 

Did that mean she never stayed with Leandros as a family? Did he bring them up single-handedly while I bore a grudge against him and stayed away? I didn’t know what to think anymore. The sound of the car door clicking shut brought me out of my dazed state. 

I saw Leandros carrying his sleeping pups into the house, one by one. He looked annoyed and ignored me as he went inside. I knew he was upset with me, but for what? Was it because I refused to help him? Or was it because I misunderstood him?

I picked up his daughter and followed him to their bedroom. It was true I had falsely concluded about Dimitra, but he couldn’t hold a grudge against me
