Chapter 37. The Worry of the Beast
Moses spent the rest of the day with them, talking about his various adventures and his connection with Demy. They were all surprised, even Demy, to learn that when Moses watched her secretly as a child, he believed her to be a goddess. He found her the most attractive of all women in his teenage years, and dreamed that one day he would marry her. Until he turned eighteen and his father explained to him the ritual and how to please their god.
Moses was sent to the desert, where Théo was waiting for him in their home. There he learned of all his commitments to the beast and swore to serve him.
As soon as he returned from the desert, he decided that he would not part with Demy after the ritual, but knowing that he could not marry her, he decided that she would be his concubine.
