Chapter 68
Carolina rented a small house in a remote suburban area and then began searching for a job.
Perhaps the heavens took pity on her, for she found work at a flower shop on her first day of job hunting.
The owner of the flower shop was a woman around thirty years old. During the interview, the woman named Lacie assessed her with a glance. "Why do you want to work here?" she asked.
"For a living, I don’t have money," Carolina replied.
"But you don’t look like a poor person. There’s a certain aura about you." Since Carolina walked into the flower shop, the owner’s gaze hadn’t left her for a second.
Carolina felt slightly uncomfortable under the woman’s intense scrutiny and chuckled self-deprecatingly. "I’m just a poor girl, not some wealthy heiress. So I hope you’ll give me a chance, and I’ll work hard at the job."
"If you agree to one condition, I’ll let you work here."
"What condition?"
