“Why can’t you just…understand what I’m saying? We are clearly speaking the same language. I am not the only one living in that room, nor was my bag locked. Can’t it be that someone put the Moon Pearl there to frame me?”
“See, if you want to ask any more questions, I am afraid that my answer would still be the same: I don’t know anything about the Moon Pearl.” This is the longest string of words Evangeline had ever said in one breath since she transmigrated to this place.
The head guard observed her sincere and calm face, and his heart softened a little bit.
He was sharp enough to know that the girl had already dropped a hint, but this was not a matter of releasing her just because she said something reasonable. According to what he was taught, one had to be unreasonable when interrogating a criminal so that they would be frustrated and reveal what they didn’t want to reveal.
“I don’t understand your point; can you explain more clearly?”
