Book 4: Killian Has Changed
Sydney's POV
As the car sped down the familiar roads of LA, memories of that fateful night kept haunting me. I clutched Killian’s arm, scooting closer to him for comfort. Squeezing my eyes shut, I tried to stop myself from facing reality. It seemed my father and his goons would attack us anytime and take me away with them. A tremor rocked my body, and he wrapped his arm around me.
I looked up at his brooding face. His mood had drastically changed ever since we landed in LA. Was he thinking the same thing as me?
“I’m scared, Killian. I hope Dad doesn’t find out we’re back.”
He sighed and looked down at me. “It’s time to face him, Sydney. Don’t be afraid. We’ve done nothing wrong.” He hesitated as if wanting to say more, but checked himself at the last minute.
“I know, but Dad never forgives. He punishes those who disobey him.” A shudder went up my body, knowing the type of punishment I would get. It would be a slow death like my mom got.
