Chapter 5. Anxious

Justin began eating the wrapped sausage, giving Zee some relief. It would have been better if Justin finished it in one bite, but that’s fine—the first bite was large.

A few of the air conditioners were turned off. Zee was very warm, so she removed her hat. Her shiny hair looked lovely and made it difficult for Justin to swallow. Justin stared with puffed-out cheeks. His eyes widened as though gazing at the vastness of the galaxy. Even in the dark, Azeeva seemed to shine in Justin’s eyes.

“What’s your name, by the way? I need to write it down.”

“Carl Justin,” he reluctantly added. “And you?”

“Azeeva Cassie Liona,” she replied.

“Nice name.” Justin took a slow drink of water, but it didn’t make it down his throat, and he coughed. “Zee—what?”

“Is there any problem?” Zee asked.

Justin’s brightness faded. His thirst persisted. His body felt rigid, making even setting down a bottle to take a sip challenging. REDCA focuses on her—the exact person Madam Jenn seeks. Justin’s mind envisions a brighter future with a glimmer of hope.

The frigid world of old is no more. Admittance. End the harmful cycle of mistreating Omegas. Justin stared intently at Zee. She’s special. Will Madam Jenn give her a fitting reward?

“Let’s get a wheelchair and go to your room. Don’t take too long. I need to rest!”

Justin nodded and put his arm around Zee’s neck. They walked away from the dining room. Justin held his chest, hoping his heart would calm down. It’s tough to focus on how to stop Zee with his mind racing. Bite her right away or make her pass out first. Choosing between two options is just too slow. That’s why you’re becoming Omega, Justin thought to himself.

“Why? Is your chest hurting?” Zee asked before Justin took a seat in the wheelchair. Azeeva was surprised when Justin grabbed her upper arm and pulled her into his arms.

“Let me go!” she protested. Zee tried to squirm free, but Justin’s grip tightened.

“Hey!” Both hands are now firmly anchored on the back of the hand, sharp nails protruding, hidden amidst the embrace. Justin’s certainty was obvious.

“Hold on a moment,” Justin said, his voice steady and resonant.

“Are you okay? Are you shivering? Do you feel cold?

Justin blinked rapidly. The heat of Zee’s attention slightly melted the walls of his heart. Besides his deceased parents, nobody had ever inquired so much. Don’t suppose, instead, that these are Justin’s concerns. No, Justin doesn’t despise Marco and the other REDCA members.

It was Justin’s fault for permitting Marco to break his leg, letting Letta clean his face, allowing Arkan to step on his stomach, and Ravin to crush his spine. All of this happened because Justin was born weak. However, the pain now triggered a determination in him.

Justin clenched his teeth, determined not to waste everything—even if it meant sacrificing a friendly girl. He vowed to remember Azeeva. Justin shut his eyes.

“This might sting a bit. Sorry.”

He swung his claws through the air, preparing to tear into Azeeva’s back.

Three…

Two…

One—Swish!

Zee knocked Justin down. Justin flew off the wall due to the strong push to his chest.

“You owe me an explanation,” Zee said with glowing white eyes, “but not now.”

Just then, hundreds of snakes swarmed into the cafeteria. Zee reached out her right hand towards the poltergeist, which was throwing chairs, tables, trolleys, and anything else it encountered. Meanwhile, her left hand launched fireballs in every direction, causing the fire to spread from one point to another.

Zee stepped back, her dress hem fluttering as she rushed over to Justin, who was staring in shock. Justin’s hair stood on end at the idea of the snake wrapping itself around him, swallowing him whole, or burying him alive.

“Wake up fast!”

The smoke stung Justin’s eyes, pulling him out of his daydream. Justin stood up with the assistance of Zee, who also helped him lift his elbows. Extraordinary strength reveals itself in urgent moments. Justin shook off the sensation of being crushed all over his body, held onto Zee’s hand, and ran ahead quickly, leading the way.

Zee turned her head, and her silver hair hit her face. A sound of hissing emerged in the hall for medical checkups. There remain numerous packs of snakes that persist in pursuing them. Zee made a sad face while pondering why the snakes of Medusa had gone missing from captivity.

“Where are we going?” Justin yelled.

“The only way out is through the lobby!” Zee shouted in response.

“You must be joking!’ Justin nudged the nearest door with his shoulder, then ensured Zee entered before locking it tightly. Zee’s gaze wandered over to a vent that frustrated her. She reached toward an abstract painting, which came loose without being touched.” The second shot quickly blocked the duct, and Zee felt relieved knowing the adhesive glue was strong.

“Are we okay?” Justin panted, holding his side.

Zee nodded and took a deep breath. “They won’t detect us.”

“But I’m not sure about you,” Zee said.

Justin got nervous around the girl’s close figure.

Zee’s eyes looked bewildered. She was angry not just with Justin but with herself. Her mind wondered why it had overlooked such a terrible landmark. She had thought that anyone or anything would have the decency not to harm a stranger.

We’ve never met before, Carl Justin. Why did you blur my vision and make everything white?

Azeeva looked at Carl Justin from head to toe, observing his strong, red-golden jaw. The wolfman’s yellow irises reflected his concern. He had a kind voice, even when it was weak. Zee will remember him as a crazy intruder. Zee thinks there are many guys like him out there. Paw acted sweetly to gain favor, but Zee won’t be fooled again.

“Wait, let me say something,” Justin interjected.

“Go ahead.”

“Um… I do because this is part of a plan with my friends. Our client gave us a mission.”

“Who’s that?”
