“Alpha, why are you treating me so well?” Anna asked Alpha Merrick.

“You don’t know, do you?” he asked, sniffing round her. The scent of her was intoxicating. She smelt like champagne. “Whenever I am around you, what smell do you perceive?” he asked. He wanted to know if she could smell him like he could.

“I don’t perceive and particular smell,” Anna replied, wondering why the Alpha was staring at her with so much expectation, and why his face fell at her answer.
