Third-Person POV

Alpha Merrick took it upon himself to help Anna heal and forget about her loss.

“Why are you being so nice to me?” she asked one day. She recalled how he had dealt with the guards. He had nearly killed his own guards because she had come to harm due to what he called their negligence.

“Alpha, please spare them,” she had pleaded. “It isn’t their fault. I tricked them. I brought the calamity upon myself,” she said and went ahead to explain.

“Still they are supposed to have been vigilant,” he insisted. “I gave them one simple task: watch over Anna and they failed woefully. What else can they possibly do right?”

“Please forgive them,” Anna looked insisted. “If there is anyone who should be punished, it is I.”

“Why did you not tell me you wanted to go out?” he asked, gently but Anna could sense that he was angry with her. “I could have asked one of the guard to go with you. I am certain this couldn’t have happened!”
