“And when Miss Elena returned to New York, I thought it was a second chance.”
His voice sounded broken for a moment, but then Nathan took a breath and straightened.
“So what are you doing now?” asked George defiantly.
Nathan looked deeply at Elena. “I just want you both to know... that Miss Elena is mine.”
Then, without a care in the world, Nathan took Elena’s face in both hands—gently but firmly—and kissed her.
