Maya continued. “I’ve heard so much about each of you from my husband—how you pour yourselves into this company, our clients, and our customers. You are the reason Hart is such an outstanding brand. Don’t get me wrong—I adore Hart as it is, and I believe in our brand’s seven-star quality. But I also believe we can offer more than just luxury.” She pointed at a young man near the front.

“You there.”

Everyone turned at once, and Parker—a newcomer to the big leagues—took a nervous step back.

“Parker, right?” Maya asked.

He swallowed. “Yes, ma’am.”

“I read your file.” She stepped closer. “Oxford scholar, three years in marketing, and yet you boast the most impressive sales record.”

“T-thank you…” he stuttered.
