Damien’s POV

“I can’t seem to track the number. It’s being added to a private list, and it does not even exist anymore,” I replied to Lancelot, who was pacing back and forth in the living room while Jake just stared at us both as he ate some ice cream.

“What exactly did the caller say to you?”

I sighed as I was about to narrate it for the hundredth time that day.

“It was immediately after I was done confronting Stella that the strange call came in, and it seemed to be a fake voice so we wouldn’t be able to detect who it might be. The next thing he said was, ‘Why wouldn’t you just back off?’ And I replied, and he said, ‘Anita is mine and mine only,’ and the call ended.”

Lancelot sighed.

“What else was strange that you noticed within that time interval?”

I must have noticed something, but…

“Wait—the guy Stella was with looked awkwardly familiar. He looked like someone I had seen before,” I recollected.

“Did you get his name?
