Damien’s POV

I immediately dashed out of the ice cream shop after I had made sure she was out of sight. With the box in my hand, I made my way into the car and settled down in it.

But something, despite my eagerness, told me to go open it up when I got home. And I did just that.

I kicked the car to a start and zoomed off to think that I was at my favorite ice cream shop, and I did even think of getting a bowl of ice cream.

Maybe some other time… But for now, this box had to be unraveled.

The ride home was so silent that I was filled with anxiety about what could be in the box. Could it be a bomb?

But come to think of it, what Stella had said and what she had offered. I thought Anita was her sister and that she had always had her back no matter what.
