Chapter 54

Richard’s POV

As the cab drove calmly on the streets of a familiar place, New York City, a billion thoughts still hadn’t stopped crossing my mind.

“Why can’t I believe the excuse that Anita gave me for her panic attack?”

Something just felt off. She looked haunted and terrified, and it looked like she lacked genuine life.

For the first time, I had prayed solemnly to God in Jesus’s name for her to be okay. Thank God she wasn’t dead, but her panic attack had just skyrocketed.

And now she needed antidepressants.

“Oh Lord, save her,” I said to my mother as I bought the drugs out of the pharmacy.

I had just taken the risk of leaving her alone at home to get the drugs, and I had left her alone at home to get the new car my brother had offered for easier transport, and we have only a week left in New York.

I sighed as I also remembered seeing her eyes red and down when I had come back from the pharmacy.
