Chapter 24

The loud bang that landed on the door woke him up instantly and Mike searched blindly in the dark for his T-shirt.

“Damn it,” he muttered when he couldn’t find it and decided he could do without it. He very much doubted it was Flynn, but he checked his phone quickly- for any messages from Flynn and Jesse.

Nothing.

He hoped it wasn’t any of the neighbours downstairs, although Mike had never had any problems with any of the tenants so far.

He never did, as he made sure people rarely noticed him.

Another bang landed heavily on his door and he cursed.

“I’m coming, Jesus.”

He walked over to the door and he didn’t need to listen more carefully or use his developed scent to know who was out there.

It was Jesse standing at his doorway.

“I’m going to kick your ass, Jesse.”
