Chapter 35
Conrad's POV
They pound on the door, and I groan, burying my head in the pillow. Sun rays seep through the curtain, hitting my face directly. I turn away, trying to avoid the light, and I hear them calling at the door over and over again. I locked the latch because I didn't want anyone to bother me today. Gwen was supposed to have the meeting with the lawyer, they would explain everything, and things would be resolved for her. Throughout the process, she had no contact with her aunt; everything was done through the lawyer and me. I made an effort to provide her with all the comforts possible, but I guess that hasn't interested her at all because she asked to see her aunt one last time.
The door keeps ringing, pushing my patience to the limit. I reluctantly get up and open the door with force. I feel the urge to slam it shut and go back to bed, but I restrain myself. Gwen looks at me with a furrowed brow, and I glare at her. What is she doing here so early? It's eight in
