Chapter 16
“Why did you say that?” I questioned Paul, my heart racing as I shot up from my chair.
“Bea, calm down first,” he responded, gently pushing me back into my seat. “Take a breath.”
Josh, sensing the tension, chimed in. “What is going on with Ian?” he asked, worry etched on his face. Paul grabbed a chair from a nearby table and brought it over, taking a seat with a troubled expression.
“He is not doing well at all,” Paul confessed, anxiety evident in his voice. “I went to his house this morning out of boredom, hoping to hang out and play on the PS5. But when I arrived, I found him lying on the couch, looking pale and sickly. And he was so hot when I touched him,” Paul paused, clearing his throat. “Literally.”
“He also mentioned that he’s been trying to reach out to you, Bea,” Paul turned to me, locking eyes. “But you have not been answering. He said he has someone taking care of him, but he wants you specifically.”
“What does he mean by that?” Josh exclaim
