Chapter 17
Joe looked around the club, scrunched his nose in disgust at the smell of cigarettes, which lingered in the air, pushed his way past the sweaty bodies of humans, and walked over to the bar. He looked down at his arm to make sure he had not made any contact with anyone during his transit.
“Give me your finest,” he ordered. The bar attendant nodded and proceeded to make a cocktail for him. Joe continued looking around the club. The sight of sweaty bodies rubbing against each other irritated him beyond words.
He nodded his head to the sound of the beat and turned in the direction of the music. His eyes caught a lady sitting on the couch at the extreme end of the club. She was all by herself. When the lights turned in her direction, he saw her wiping her face. Curiosity got the best of him.
“Make that two, please,” he told the attendant. He watched her, taking as much of her features as he could under the dim light and committing it to his memory. He could not tell if
