Chapter 6
“General Freeman?” A soldier called, shaking the general lightly. The plan had become empty as everyone else had filed out after they landed, but the general remained sitting. Confused and slightly afraid, the soldier tapped his shoulder again before feeling for his pulse. His eyes widened in shock when he touched the general’s pulse but felt nothing. He rubbed the back of his head, trying to wrap his head around what was going on.
Unable to, he took two steps backward, breathed out shakily, and stumbled out of the plane.
“The general is dead!” He bellowed as he stepped out of the craft. Everyone turned to stare at him like he had lost his mind. “General Freeman is dead,” he repeated. Salome moved closer to him, cocked her head to the side, and studied him. One of the medical practitioners dashed into the plane to check on the general. He returned five minutes later looking downcast.
