After hours of playing at the beach and here at the castle, the boys are tired and are taking a nap as we have lunch. King Cyrus has a full spread of fruit and seafood for my siblings and I to enjoy. He and his nephew sip on blood in wine glasses as we all talk idly at the outdoor dining table. With the cool sea breeze moving around us, making the palm trees sway, Cerise Port feels like its own tropical paradise cut off from the rest of the world.
Kane and I have come to visit a few times over the years. His uncle’s support of our marriage had helped us sway over some of the vampire royals to our side. There are royals that would never support the union between our two species, and that is a change that I will never see in my lifetime. Change takes a long time to actually happen, a gradual journey at a snail’s pace, so we are lucky a few of them have changed their minds.
