Chapter 155. Telling Coit

Emory

Later that evening, I sit down in my office and pick up the phone to dial Alpha Gerald. He’d much rather speak to me than Kane since we are the same species. Kane has locked himself in his office and hasn’t come out since we got home from Burgandy Bay. I’m sure he’s trying to come up with a plan to get Lydia back and end the feeder trade once and for all.

I have the unfortunate job of informing Alpha Gerald about what’s happened to Lydia. He sounds exhausted and at the end of his rope.

“If this goes on any longer, I’ll storm into Carmine Falls with my men, and I will get my granddaughter back myself,” he says, his voice thick with emotion. “I can’t let that… that thing feed on her like a leech. This was never supposed to happen. I was supposed to keep her safe.”

“Rainer has infiltrated the castle. He’s working on getting her out as quickly as he can.” I try to assure him, but I’m not sure it even works to make me feel more calm.
