Chapter 156. Not So Fast

Rainer managed to sneak me some food from the kitchen, and I’m feeling better after getting some rest. I’m able to walk without feeling nauseous which I can contribute to that fast shifter healing. He also took a dress from the servants’ quarters for me to change into as the heavy velvet gown I’m wearing is going to be difficult to move in, especially if it gets wet in the cave. From how Rainer describes it, it sounds like an obstacle course in the dark, and I need to be able to move unencumbered.
“When will King Myenas come back?” I ask.
“He’s left the castle to meet with Kane,” Rainer explains. “The guards think he’ll be gone the whole day.”
“Where is he meeting with Kane?” I wonder if that has something to do with me.
“They’re near Burgundy Bay. That should give us a head start once we’re out of the castle and the cave.” I can see Rainer is confident in his statement that we have time.
