Chapter 31. Not Good Being on the Receiving End

All through the night, Belladonna stayed glued to me, even in her sleep.
She had refused to go back to her room and clung to me like a koala. I had no choice but to go to bed with her, and she slept with her arms tight around my middle, her face pressed into my chest.
I couldn't sleep. I stared up at the ceiling, my thoughts wandering. The look in her eyes when she burst into my room—that look of utter fear, like she was stuck in a nightmare, the tears that streamed down her face left an imprint in my head.
And I'm ashamed to say this… but she looked so beautiful at that moment. With her eyes wide in fear, and the tears streaming down and leaving marks on her beautiful face, her hair wild and long. She was even more beautiful and it was a struggle for me to take my eyes off her.
A real struggle.
I looked down at her now that she was deeply asleep. Her lips were slightly parted, the tears she shed had left a trail
