Chapter 17

Sleepily, I opened my eyes and sat up, realizing where we were. I smiled at Matias, who returned the gesture with a quick kiss and adjusted my tiara again. Then, a question crossed my mind—why didn't he wear a crown?

"Because, if there were to be an attack, I need to be ready to fight without worrying about a crown on my head," Matias explained.

I couldn't just sit back if there was an attack, knowing I could protect those around me with my training. I expressed my thoughts to him, but Matias disagreed, not wanting me to be in harm's way.

"I couldn't stand back either. I wouldn't let someone else get hurt while I could be by your side. Not even if you are a prince," I replied firmly.

"We will have to agree to disagree," Matias said.

Grumbling under my breath, I was determined not to let it go so easily, but Matias seemed to anticipate my reaction.

"I wouldn't expect anything less from you," he smiled.

We were then greeted by two men opening the doo
