Chapter 11. At the Bus Stop

Because I had only slept for about two hours, I was really sleepy on our first day of classes. Mommy didn’t have a hard time waking me up, but on the way to school, I fell asleep in our car, and Mommy only woke me up when we were at the gate of Clara West Elementary School.
“Ash, baby… wake up.” Mommy tapped my arm, and I immediately opened my eyes and rubbed them. I also stretched.
“Lee is waiting for you…” Daddy pointed out from the driver’s seat, as Lee had just gotten out of the car. When Mommy and Daddy saw Auntie and Uncle, they both waved, and Auntie and Uncle did the same.
When I noticed Lee furrowing her brow while her hands gripped the straps of her backpack, I hurried to get out. I slung my navy blue backpack over my back, kissed Mommy and Daddy on the cheek, and then got out of the car.
