I couldn’t forget those words—words that Tate’s father had spat at me yesterday when I went to his wake.
I hadn’t wanted to go. Not to Tate’s, not even to Lee’s. I refused to see them lying in their coffins, refused to accept that they were really gone. And more than anything, I couldn’t forgive myself… because it was my fault. It was because of me that this was how things ended for them.
