Chapter 69

The next day after the incident, Arthur arrived home late in the evening, his body sore, not just his head. He vowed never to mix beer, whiskey, and tequila again. He’d never let Sofia “fetch” him again.

Upon arriving home, he saw Alanna in the kitchen. He kissed his mom and was met with a comment, “I don’t know what you did last night, but you smell like an omega. Take a long soak in the bathtub before Rebecca gets here.” He wasn’t at all pleased with his night of drinking.

Speaking of which, where did he sleep?

“At a friend’s house from work. I slept in his bed, that explains the strong scent.”

“I know… I believe you because you wouldn’t do anything to hurt Rebecca. Hurry, I’m finishing dinner.”

“You cooking?”

“Actually, your dad had a hearing. I bought everything from the market, and I’m heating it up in the oven.”

“You turn on the oven and boil water like a pro, Mom.”

“I know, darling, it’s my best quality!”
